Tag Magazine 2014
This is an ambitious project run by students on the BTEC L3 Extended Diploma Creative Media Production. They work in teams to bring together and apply a wide range of specialist skills including journalism, writing and editing copy, research, photography, illustration, graphic design, editorial work, as well as the use of industry based publishing and image manipulation software. They also develop and apply the really crucial workplace skills - team working, ethical considerations, communication, organisation, negotiation, project management, meeting multiple deadlines, budgeting, working with clients etc.
The resulting and spectacular annual publication is entirely self-funding (in fact it returns a small profit) with students taking ownership of revenue through advertising, and managing print and distribution costs. TAG MAG is one of many live and work related projects, which include Eastbourne Youth Radio, live video and publishing undertakings for local companies and organisations, as well as very ambitious creative work with print, film, video, TV and radio production.
No wonder students from this programme progress to the best universities in the country!
